Privacy policy
The short version: your budget numbers stay on your device. We only receive what you choose to send us, and we use it to reply to you.

Your calculator numbers
The budget planner, calculators and monthly check-in run in your browser. What you type is saved in your browser's local storage on your device so it's there when you come back. It is not sent to BudgetHelp, and we can't see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
Information you send us
Questions. When you use the Ask a question form, we receive your name, email, optional phone number, topic and message, the page you sent it from, your approximate country, and a scrambled code made from your IP address that changes daily. We use the code only to block spam and limit repeated submissions.
Coaching bookings. Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details, and we never see your full card number. We receive your name, email, phone number, billing country, the amount paid, and your answers to the booking questions. If you send notes after booking, we receive those too.
How we use it
- To reply to your question or schedule and run your coaching call
- To send your call summary and follow-up related to your booking
- To keep records needed for accounting and tax purposes
- To protect the site from spam and abuse
We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't add you to a mailing list.
Who helps us run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores form submissions.
- Stripe processes payments and sends receipts.
- Google provides the email service where messages arrive, and the web fonts this site loads.
These providers may store information outside Canada, where it can be subject to the laws of those countries.
Cookies and tracking
BudgetHelp doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe uses cookies on its checkout pages to process payments securely and prevent fraud.
How long we keep it
We keep questions for up to 24 months, then delete them. We keep booking and payment records for as long as Canadian tax rules require, generally six years.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Send a request through the Ask a question form with the topic "Something else" and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Referral links
When you click a referral link to Wealthsimple, Questrade or Simplii Financial, you leave BudgetHelp, and that company's privacy policy applies to anything you share with them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
